SurfActiv™ 7020 Cleanser/7010 Solubilizer
INCI: Octyl/Lauryl Sorbitol/Tartaric Acid Copolymer
Use Instructions
Dissolving in Deionized Water
Steps in Preparing a 30 wt% % Solution of SurfActiv™ 7020 Cleanser in DI Water at 22°C (Room Temp) Using a Magnetic Stirrer at 200 RPM for 2 hours. Do not heat above 60°C.
SurfActiv™ 7020 Cleanser/7010 Solubilizer can be solubilized or dispersed in the requisite amount of water by simply agitating with an overhead stirrer or a magnetic stirrer bar (200 RPM is adequate). For a 30% solids solution, the time of dissolution is less than two hours. SurfActiv™ 7020 Cleanser/7010 Solubilizer produces a clear solution.
Add other co-surfactants to the mixing solution if desired.
The pH of the solution after dissolution and without other ingredients will be acidic (pH 2-3).
Adjusting the pH:
We recommend adjusting the pH using a 10% sodium bicarbonate solution. You will see effervescence and dense foam (not too much). This way, the pH of the solution is at most 8.5 units. You can use other salts, e.g., magnesium chloride hexahydrate (pH will increase to 4.5-5.5). Other buffer-based systems are also usable for testing.
Adding Other Components/Ingredients
Add other components as a dispersion/solution to a well-mixed SurfActiv™ solution.
