SurfActiv™ surfactants are molecularly assembled using natural and upcycled ingredients – natural L-(+)-tartaric acid (E334) and D-sorbitol (E420) and a dash of fatty alcohol (< 1 %) lauryl alcohol OR octyl alcohol. Moreover, the manufacturing process is based on green chemistry, which means no solvents or energy-intensive added processing. The result is a first-of-its-kind ultra-low C surfactant with a carbon content typical of carbohydrates, ~ 42%. For comparison purposes, a poly(ethylene glycol) based surfactant is typically 55% C content, and a bar of soap has up to 70 % C content; a much smaller carbon by-design footprint (≥ 18% lower).

SurfActiv™ develops your brand story right from our concept through our factory to the consumers' hands and ultimately back to nature. Your manufacturing becomes less energy intensive since our surfactants are freely soluble or dispersible in aqueous media at room temperature with gentle agitation, and generally miscible with most of the natural ingredients. While the consumer is enriched with the experience of your formulation, the rinsed-off SurfActiv™ is “inherently biodegradable” in local effluent treatment plants.
